We got back last week from a wonderful month in Sestri!
We spent the first 10 days there with Uncle Chris, Aunt Leah and Cousin Cassidy. We showed them the most important Sestri highlights by mainly lounging on the beach and eating a lot of pasta and gelato. We also took a boat trip to Portofino and some of us went hiking in the Cinque Terre. The kids absolutely loved having Cassidy around and it was so fun having them with us.
After they left, Nonna and the Jacobs joined us. We had a tough week when all the kids except Sam were really sick with strep and high fevers. They all visited a crotchety old Italian doctor with zero bedside manner and endured days of what Alice described as "disgusting" medicine. And Dylan then had a second appointment with a much better doctor. After everyone was finally well, we mainly lounged on the beach and ate pasta and gelato :) Both Sam and Alice celebrated their birthdays Italian-style, and we had a great time being together.
These have nothing to do with Italy, but Dylan is constantly talking about things that happened "yesterday" (but he pronounces it "ass-terday"). He seems to think that "yesterday" refers to any time in the past. So about 10 times a day he'll say "Mom, remember assterday when...." And Lina has now become somewhat of a nudist. She is constantly taking off her pants and diaper (and shirt when she's able to, but that's harder for her) and refuses to let me put them back on. It's kind of cute...until you step into a wet spot on the floor. And after those random thoughts, here are some pictures from our trip!
